sunday before the storm

It is cold and cloudy, and we are just waiting for Sandy to come to visit us.   We are pretty well prepared, the boys have books to read and their ds.  I have some cro-knitting to do for a friend who is having a baby in KS.   Actually, i have two friends have babies...wow.  It is hard when my former dancers get married, harder still when they start having babies!
Well, i can always use an excuse to make stuff, keeps me focused and out of trouble.

Today was good, we went to church and Nate actually commented on the sermon on the way home, saying it was "life changing" which was encouraging to hear from him.  You never know if he is listening or not.  I love my Sunday mornings with them.  We drive together, from LG to Culpeper, and we just laugh and have a good time.  I love it.  The boys talk to me, we are silly and relaxing. 
I keep praying for Dani Amoruso as she continues her ministry in Uganda.  I have been sending her cards and such, and sent her a prayer shawl, but i guess she hasn't gotten it yet.  It was being brought to her by someone who was traveling there.

Hurricane Sandy, Saturday

Happy Saturday...i spent today trying to get ready for the potential rain and wind and was rewarded with severe back pain and a blinding headache.  I just live for this.  Nate had an ROTCJ competition, he said they didn't do too hot.  Ben spent the day with the Wrights, and Tim was at COAHC get acqainted, and now, trying to get the house ready. 
Oh, and the dog is sick.  Just ducky.
I have a terrific toothache, i have no clue what to do about that right now.

Today, Tim and i had to drive to Harrisonburg after the keys were locked in the car and i had the spare set.  He and i had a nice drive (I did sleep on the way there, go figure) and then on the way home, we went to lunch and then we stopped several places for pictures, which were so beautiful.  The fall is incredible in VA.  I am hoping we get to go again next week with the boys, although Tim has a pastors meeting from 1-3pm, a get aquainted...why would anyone have it in the middle of the afternoon, i have no idea.
Tim preached today about membership and did an awesome job.   He had more life than he has had in a very long time.
Nate had his JROTC competition, apparently it was okay, but i couldn't go because of work, but i am now off on Saturdays...PRAISE THE LORD!  I needed it.  I am so fried at this point.   I need a day off desperately.    I don't miss shifts, i am faithful as all faithful, but i am very tired.  Appointment with MD, i think tomorrow, this is something that needs to be discussed.

N8 and competition

Nathan has been staying late at school preparing for his JROTC competition.  He is so excited that Tim and Ben will be there.  I already and scheduled to work all day, so i can't do it, and that is probably a good thing, my back and hip are killing me.  So i need to call Dr. Halpert about getting that pain taken care of.  
I am so excited for him, though, he is gaining so much confidence, this is what he needed.  He needs to keep his grades up to stay in here.  Spoke to the sgt, he is going to work with him to get those grades up.  He is now a private and feels pride in that.

What's for dinner tonight?   Ugh....time to try a new recipe....i have enough recipe books, so i have to experiment tonight!

earthquake in Maine!?!

Wow, was just talking to Steffie, there was an earthquake in Maine.  On thursday, the boys will have an earthquake drill in school.  Never thought of that before last year, but having a 5.7 and numerous aftershocks and small earthquakes, we are aware what can happen.  I have friends that had thousands of dollars worth of damage to their home, and yet, the emergency assistance program only gave them $700.  
Went to a gifted meeting today, to learn more about the Blue Ridge Governors Program.  Jenn was in the pilot program, in 2000-2004.  It will be interesting to see if Ben ends up in it. 
Nate is preparing for his first ROTC competition.  I really hope they do awesome!

Loving my new camera, so many cool things i can do with it.

Okay!  I am going to get serious about this!

This is my goal, to use this as "Letter" to family and friends so they can see what we are up to in our lives.  Many of my family don't want to use facebook, and I am fine with that, so here I can post pictures and news and anyone can comment on it.   My goal is to add fotos, little tidbits, anything that is fun.
